CSC’s Workplace Wellness Committee Kicks Off “Walking Warriors”

Community Service Council’s (CSC) Workplace Wellness Committee kicked off its first day of health initiatives with its Walking Warriors group. Staff took a brisk 30-minute stroll at one of the many walking trails available in the area.

The purpose of CSC’s Workplace Wellness Committee is to provide a healthy environment at work through strategic efforts that promote and support a culture of wellness. CSC is currently in the process of submitting a Certified Healthy Business Application through the Oklahoma State Department of Health.

The Walking Warriors group will meet every Monday, Wednesday and Friday to encourage healthy exercise habits. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 30 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise five days a week can help lower the risk of coronary heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, type two diabetes and more.

“We are excited to kick off our Walking Warriors group,” said Jennifer Freeman, CSC’s Workplace Wellness Committee Chair. “It is important to encourage healthy habits and a culture of wellness in the workplace for all employees.”
