CSC Staff Represents Tulsa at National Courts Conference

On July 9-13, several members of CSC’s Tulsa County COURTS Program and CSC’s Veterans Treatment Court teams, along with Tulsa County District Judge Rebecca Nightingale, attended the annual National Association of Drug Court Professionals conference for Drug, DUI, Mental Health and Veterans Treatment courts in National Harbor, Maryland. MOre than 5,000 attendees from across the nation attended the conference.

Tammy Westcott, Director for CSC’s Reduced Incarceration Division, conducted a session on the collaboration necessary for treatment courts. At this standing room only session, Tammy shared experiences with a fellow courts director from California on the necessity of setting aside the adversarial nature of criminal proceedings in order for treatment courts to be successful.

Additionally while at the conference, Tammy facilitated the prosecutor session for Vet Con, which is the annual training conference facilitated by Justice for Vets, a division of NADCP, for veterans treatment court teams, mentor coordinators and mentors.
