CSC’s Tulsa Reentry One-Stop Participant and Volunteer Honored

This spring, CSC’s Tulsa Reentry One-Stop program was recognized and celebrated by two separate organizations: CoreCivic honored the dedication of Reentry volunteer mentor Charles Bedford, and Goodwill of Tulsa honored the inspirational success of Reentry participant Connie Laney-Golden.

Tulsa Reentry One-Stop is a program designed to break the cycle of incarceration by assisting men and women returning to Tulsa from prison along their path of reintegration, a critical mission for this community. Oklahoma has the second highest incarceration rate in the nation, and 24% of formerly incarcerated individuals in Tulsa return to prison.

Through development of career pathways in high demand occupations and integrated support services, Reentry program participants are given a road map to successful reintegration.

This May, Reentry program participant Connie Laney-Golden received the Goodwill Industries of Tulsa Achiever of the Year award for her tremendous success. After being incarcerated five times, Laney-Golden chose to turn her life around with support and guidance from a pilot program between CSC’s Tulsa Reentry One-Stop and Goodwill Tulsa Works Career Academy.

Additionally, Reentry program volunteer Charles Bedford was honored by CoreCivic, a national full-service corrections management provider, in joint celebration of National Volunteer Week and National Reentry Week. Bedford was featured for his dedication to helping former inmates reconnect with their lives outside of prison, and find the resources they need to be successful.
