CSC Co-Hosts Tulsa’s 2017 Stand Down For Homeless Veterans

On Saturday, Sept. 15, the Community Service Council partnered with more than 20 other social service organizations to host the 2017 Tulsa Stand Down for Homeless Veterans event, offering an array of resources and services to veterans, such as food, clothing, housing, employment resources, health screenings, VA benefits information and more to Tulsa’s homeless veteran population. More than 300 volunteers gathered at First United Methodist Church in downtown Tulsa to support the event, which served 306 veterans and 47 civilians throughout the day, with approximately 80 veterans receiving flu shots. Shuttles transported event attendees from six locations across Tulsa, including the Gospel Rescue Mission in Muskogee and the Day Center for the Homeless in Tulsa.
