Community Service Council’s (CSC) Housing and Homelessness Division and Williams Companies secured 77 affordable housing property units for veterans and homeless individuals as a part of the Tulsa Area United Way’s Day of Caring.
The Housing and Homelessness Division’s Abode Initiative created a phone bank of over 300 properties and enlisted the help of 11 Williams employees to contact properties about income and criminal background eligibility criteria for family units. Williams Companies employees advocated for transitional individuals on behalf of the Community Service Council by asking unit property managers to consider holding apartments for three to five business days and waiving application fees and deposits.
“The shortage of housing for our veterans and homeless individuals is why the work we do is so critical,” said Patrice Pratt, CSC’s Housing and Homelessness Division Director. “We want to continue mutually beneficial partnerships that help to service those individuals most in need of housing assistance and additional wrap-around services.”
