The national Coalition for Community Schools will host its first annual Community Schools Advocacy Day on June 16th, with a training session scheduled for June 15th. Local partners are encouraged to participate.

Only six months in, 2011 is shaping up to be a banner year for community schools. Three pieces of legislation have been introduced:

• Full Service Community Schools Act of 2011 (HR 1090, S 585)
• DIPLOMA (Developing Innovative Partnerships and Learning Opportunities that Motivate Achievement) (S 426)
• Supporting Community Schools Act of 2011 (S 616)
