Evolution of the Council's name:

From the time of its founding in 1941 the organization was known as the Tulsa Council of Social Agencies

In 1966 the name was changed to Community Service Council of Greater Tulsa to reflect an expanded role.

In 2009, "of Greater Tulsa" was removed and the name was shortened to Community Service Council to reflect that the Council works also in additional counties in northeastern Oklahoma.
