Babyline and Planline

Improving maternal and child health

Babyline / Planline...
  • is a collaborative community effort to help women and families find affordable prenatal care and family planning services that will improve outcomes for potentially high risk pregnancies and reduce incidences of infant mortality
  • is a centralized telephone appointment service for prenatal and family planning services targeting low-income and uninsured individuals in the Tulsa metropolitan service area Services and phone numbers

Callers to Babyline / Planline...
  • speak with trained service specialists who are fluent in English and Spanish and knowledgeable about community services
  • are linked with the first available appointment for affordable family planning or prenatal health services at participating clinics

Babyline / Planline impacts many women and babies...
  • responding to over 4,000 in-coming calls annually
  • making over 1,000 prenatal and family planning appointments each year
  • scheduling prenatal appointments for about 20% of all resident births in Tulsa County

Babyline also collects and analyzes data to document trends and make system improvement recommendations to the Family Health Coalition and other planning groups.

Approximately 80% of the women calling Babyline for prenatal appointments reported that they were not using any method of family planning, yet they had not wished to be pregnant at that time. This awareness led to the formation of Planline in 1994, to make sliding scale family planning services available to low-income women.
