The P-20 concept is a way of thinking and acting that promotes systematic aligning of multiple education, health, and social support resources to best advance human capital development from prenatal through postsecondary and employment, and on to sustained lifelong well-being. The focus is on assuring successful transitions at critical points along the developmental growth pathway.
Building upon work of the Tulsa Alliance for Families initiative organized through the Metropolitan Human Services Commission (MHSC) in the mid 1990ís, the Community Service Council and MHSC facilitated creation of the Tulsa County P-20 Council in early 2010. The group provides a leadership vehicle for convening key community partners for collaborative planning and action that advances human capital development pre-natal through employment and on to sustained, ongoing learning and development. The emphasis is on effectively linking education with an array of other resources and sectors supporting individuals as they move through the developmental pipeline, articles, and assuring accountability for specific desired improvements.
